Theatricalizing Medical Case Consultations for the LAC+USC Adult Care Clinics
Partnered with LAC+USC Adult Care Clinics, “ACT Together” offers medical practitioners the opportunity to create theatricalized case consultations. This program was originally created by Dr. Astrid Heger in collaboration with Dr. Josh Banerjee and ITSC Director, Dr. Brent Blair.
Community-based actors devise scenes with medical professionals on themes representing tensions between practitioners and patients. These scenes are then presented live to an audience of stakeholders and discussions begin around themes of improving employee engagement in the clinic, developing authentic empathy, and enhancing dialogue around issues in clinical practice. Initial reports indicate that employee engagement at the clinic has improved 4% in just 6 months.
